Wetland City and other local nature news
We are forming partnerships with other local organisations to maximise opportunities for people and nature spaces.
SEEDING is a new initiative which we have developed from your priorities in our Community Climate Action Plan. We're hopeful that early in 2027 we will secure some funding to create nature corridors linking our community gardening spaces across the neighbourhood and around Bristol Harbour, linking with businesses and cultural organisations. In the meantime we're planning an event this autumn, supplying seeds and plants to all the local gardening groups and planting a 'trail' of pollinators to enjoy next spring and summer. We have a new Climate and Nature News Blog where you can find our more about our work at H&CCA and plans for the future. As always, we welcome your involvement. Email us at [email protected]
We're very happy to announce a new partnership with Bristol Older People's Forum's Nature Together Project, based at the CREATE Centre. We'll share more news and opportunities about their wonderful team and our joint plans in our regular November Newsletter. You can have your say at the BRISTOL OLDER PEOPLE'S FORUM CLIMATE AND NATURE PROJECT MEETING Thursday 15th October 10:00AM - 12:00PM, The Courts, Bridewell St, Bristol BS1 2QD
At our 2026 H&CCA AGM we shared a slideshow about the Climate and Nature Project, local-led initiatives including Rosemont Wildwall and The Town Green slides- please click this link to view.

Here in Hotwells & Cliftonwood we have recently declared Bristol Harbour Community Nature Reserve and which we presented during Spike Island Green Futures Week in March. The map above shows the area we have identified and this document outlines the community groups who are already working hard to make space for nature with contact details if you want to get involved. Big thanks to those of you who were able to join us. We had a lot of positivity from several council officers so we hope to build on these relationships and make more space for people and nature our community. Avon Wildlife Trust also has rich resources on their website to support people in communities and a nice blog post about community nature reserves.
You can find out more about using iNaturalist and taking part in community Bioblitz activities by watching this video made with the BS4 community as part of The Wild is Here project last year.
