HCCA Response to Western Harbour Consultation March 2025

In our opinion the Western Harbour Draft Masterplan does not offer a coherent plan for
regeneration of the area. In seeking to place 750-1200 new homes within the “red line” it fails
to recognise the high population density of the surrounding areas and the impact such
development may have.
We estimate that the current masterplan would raise the population
of our area by 40-50%, while not offering a coherent plan for services and amenities for such
a population uplift in an area which is already poorly served.
We consider that the scale of the proposed buildings in the Draft Masterplan is inappropriate for the area. The Draft Masterplan itself acknowledges the iconic status of the Bond
Warehouses yet seeks to build at a scale that will drastically reduce Bristol’s views of these
buildings. Read more
